I’ve had a pretty good day today and thought I’d write a quick post about it. Mostly, I want to get back into keeping up with this blog – and what better way to do it than to actually sit down and regularly write, right?
The highlight of my work day was digging into the design of our annual Holiday card at work. It’s one part of our Angel Tree Offering giving initiative, and typically the one I start with. I use it as the basis for the rest of the materials in terms of style and color coordination. This year, we’re planning big things, and since all the plans haven’t been confirmed (and I wanted to get an early start after rushing the whole project last year) I decided to provide three options our team can choose from. Although I’d love to share the designs, I can’t. Part of our plan is to finally – finally!! – get more involved in social media and you’d better believe I’m going to use these designs as part of the kick-off.
After work, I went to Letty’s (great restaurant in the Plaza-Shamrock area of Charlotte) and helped none other than Letty herself get started leveraging social media to help increase awareness and sales. She already posts her specials and photos on Facebook, but we went over some basics of setting up Events and running ads on Facebook, both in terms of branding and driving event traffic. I would’ve considered that my volunteer duty of the week, but she paid me with free beer – and I’m perfectly okay with that.
Once I finally got home, I managed to squeeze in a litttttttle bit of time working on a baby blanket that my best friend’s mother asked me to make for one of her friends. It’s slow going. For the record, I dislike baby-weight yarn but do love the way it’s looking:
Now, I’m off to take my anti-inflammatory medicine and head to bed. I found out yesterday that I have plantar fasciitis, and although it’s not terribly painful I do find it annoying that I’m limping around. Guess it’s time to get back on the diet and, once this heals, the exercise plan.
So that was my day. Nothing major, but I feel like I got a lot done – and that’s always nice!
